We are looking for cleaning personnel who are capable of maintaining the cleanliness of the interior classrooms, washrooms and hallways of a boarding school. This position is available for afternoons and/or evenings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Sweeps and mops floors
- Vacuums and steam cleans carpets
- Washes windows and cleans blinds and drapes
- Cleans and disinfects toilets and sinks and replenishes supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels
- Orders cleaning supplies and equipment and maintains an appropriate stock at all times
- Operates and maintains equipment such as vacuums and floor cleaners
- Collects and removes trash from a building or space
- Makes minor repairs as necessary, including tasks such as changing light bulbs and fixing leaks
- Notifies the principal when major repairs, including structural issues or highly skilled tasks, are required
- Monitors heat, cooling, and other environmental systems
- Typically works times would be after school hours. 4 hours/day
- Knows when and how to use PPE when working with chemicals
The ideal candidate will:
- Have 3 years of janitorial experience
- Have training in WHIMS with proof of certification and understand MSDS sheets
- Be able to walk and stand for long periods of time, climb stairs, stoop, reach and lift up to 30 lbs.
- Be able to work with a team.
- Be able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector and Criminal Check
