Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic ESL Teacher who has a strong background in teaching English. In this key role as an ESL Teacher, you will teach classes that include all four essential language skills to ESL students and summer campers.
Edward International Academy is a private Boarding high school located in Wallaceburg, Chatham-Kent.
As an ESL Teacher for ELS, you will assess students throughout eight-week sessions, create midterms, finals and write up grade reports. You will deliver the curriculum in interactive ways to the students while remaining culturally sensitive. Additional responsibilities include:
- Teaching students the 4 language skills of structure,listening, speaking, reading and writing
- Actively engaging students by running a dynamic and student-centered classroom
- Attending professional development meetings with the Academic Director, Center Directors and other teachers
- Working with fellow instructors on lesson plansAs an ESL Teacher for ELS, you must have a desire to work with students and have positive interactions with them. You must bring energy and fresh ideas to the classroom while making an impact on the students that will last for the rest of their lives. Additional requirements include:
Job Requirements:
- BA /BS required, TESL certificate recognized by Languages Canada
- At least 6 months experience teaching ESL preferred
- Strong presentation, communication and writing skills
- Basic computer skills
- Cultural sensitivity; personal satisfaction derived from and enthusiasm for teaching international students; empathy for the problems of learning English as a second language; good communication and organizational skills
